Community Health Boosters (CHB) is a pioneering youth-led organization dedicated to creating digital health technologies and youth-friendly learning tools that empower young individuals, amplify their voices, and enhance their opportunities. Founded in 2019 at the University of Rwanda, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, CHB collaborates with young people to co-create inclusive digital solutions, low-tech games, magazines, and services that enrich their lives. CHB is inviting highly motivated individuals to join our team as a Communication Officer Intern. Based at our Head Office in Kigali, this internship offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute to our mission of empowering youth and enhancing community health.
Job Summary:
Communication Officer Intern, will play a vital role in supporting CHB’s communication efforts. He/she will assist in crafting compelling messages, managing digital platforms, and engaging with diverse stakeholders. Additionally, he/she will collaborate closely with the Communication Manager to ensure consistency and effectiveness in our communication strategies.
Reports to: Communication Manager
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team members to establish project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement effective solutions to ensure timely completion of requests.
- Prepare project status reports and presentations, highlighting key accomplishments, challenges, and next steps.
- Contribute to the development of written content for various purposes, including reports, proposals, presentations, and promotional materials.
- Conduct research and gather relevant information to support content creation efforts.
- Edit and proofread written materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to brand guidelines.
- Assist in the creation and management of content calendars and editorial schedules.
- Support the creation and dissemination of communication materials, including Infographics, posters, social media content, newsletters, and press releases.
- Assist in managing CHB’s digital platforms, including website updates and social media channels.
- Coordinate with internal teams to gather content and information for communication purposes.
- Conduct research to support communication initiatives and stay informed about industry trends.
- Assist in organizing events, workshops, and campaigns to promote CHB’s mission and activities.
- Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to amplify CHB’s message and reach.
- Perform other duties assigned by your supervisor
Education and Experience:
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
- Demonstrated interest in health promotion, youth empowerment, or social change.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to craft clear and engaging content.
- Familiarity with digital communication tools and platforms.
- Experience with graphic design, video editing, or photography is a plus.
Communication Abilities:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Proficiency in report writing and effective communication.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ethical and confidential handling of sensitive information.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to take initiative.
- Proficiency in at least two official languages spoken in Rwanda but, English is a must
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and familiarity with communication software/tools.
- Results-oriented with a commitment to achieving CHB’s goals.
