Overview
Kigali Cine Junction is seeking a Festival Producer (consultant) to lead the preparation of its upcoming fourth edition (July 2026). This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping one of Rwanda’s most dynamic film culture platforms and to collaborate with filmmakers, partners, and audiences from across the region and beyond.
The role involves consolidating the archives of the past three editions into a database, securing resources, building partnerships, planning human resources and volunteers, developing social media strategy, and preparing all core elements for the 2026 edition. This consultancy focuses on the pre-festival period and will run until May 2026.
Scope of Work
The consultant will work closely with the Festival Director and the wider team, particularly the programming and curation team to:
- Organize and digitize archives from the past three editions into a usable and expandable database (partners, guests, suppliers, films, venues, etc.).
- Lead resource mobilization, including identifying funding opportunities, engaging sponsors, and drafting proposals.
- Drive partnership development and stakeholder engagement at local, regional, and international levels.
- Plan human resources, including festival staff and volunteers, defining roles, schedules, and responsibilities.
- Support event planning to ensure a coherent program (screenings, panels, workshops, guest experiences).
- Coordinate with venues and suppliers (vendors, technical providers, etc.) to secure preliminary agreements.
- Develop and implement a social media strategy to strengthen the festival’s presence on Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok.
- Provide input into the festival’s overall strategic development.
Key Deliverables (by May 2026)
- A functional “grow-as-you-go” database consolidating records from the past three editions.
- Secured funding commitments and sponsorships for the July 2026 festival.
- Confirmed participation of international guests, with preliminary logistics planned.
- Confirmed venue rentals and preliminary agreements with suppliers/vendors.
- Human resource and volunteer plan for the festival team, with roles, schedules, and responsibilities clearly defined.
- A comprehensive and realistic festival budget.
- Established partnerships and committed resources enabling smooth event delivery.
- Increased social media engagement and number of followers.
Duration
This consultancy runs from the date of contracting until May 2026, covering the pre-festival preparation period.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience in event or festival production (film, arts, or cultural events preferred).
- Strong project management, organizational, and budgeting skills.
- Proven experience in resource mobilization and securing funding.
- Strong skills in stakeholder engagement and partnership development.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, particularly Google Sheets.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with the film industry and event logistics in Rwanda is an asset.
- Advanced English required; knowledge of Kinyarwanda and/or French is an asset.
Contract Details
- Position: Consultant in Festival Production
- Duration: October 2025 – May 2026
- Location: Kigali, Rwanda
- Start Date: Immediate
- Remuneration: Fixed consultancy fee plus a proportional bonus based on funds raised. A portion of the consultancy fee will be paid upon contract signing to cover initial preparation work, with the remainder payable upon submission and approval of the agreed deliverables.
